Model casting went down on Saturday, the 27th of May at the beautiful southern gem that is the Nathan Homestead. It was a sunny winter’s morning – cold enough to wear a scarf, but warm enough to rock a leather mini skirt and boots. From 10am to 1pm we were fortunate to watch, meet and speak to over 60 aspiring models. We were looking for confidence, beauty (inner as much as outer), and a fierce walk with the attitude to match. After 3 hours, we were so pleased to share that we had a group of 50 unique models to work with, including 10 original Pacific Fusion Fashion Show models returning for their second year. This year we welcome model, owner of Tropical Models and winner of the first season of Maori Television’s Game of Bros, Louis Ova. PFFS 2016 Faces of Fusion Jordan Tay and Leilani Tominiko will also be back after a year of photo shoots and promotional outings.

Following the casting call, the PFFS team held their first model workshop on Saturday, the 24th of June. The two-hour workshop offered as a professional development opportunity to the PFFS models allowed them to meet and work with Evana of Head to Heels. At last, we were able to see first-hand what our models had to offer and witness their personalities to come life! It was exhilarating to watch self-confidence blossom within our more reserved models, especially those who were experiencing this all for the first time. Evana covered different catwalk techniques, poses and provided a foundation of skills for the PFFS models to practice and therefore build upon.

As we approach our final month leading up to the Pacific Fusion Fashion Show, the models will attend two more equally stimulating workshops. Our health and fitness workshop hosted by the coaches of Crossfit Otara will focus on the importance of self-care and managing your health holistically as an aspiring model. Our final model workshop will be hosted by a renowned model and beauty icon, who is also the celebrity guest model for PFFS. You will need to watch this space to find out who it is! We are definitely heading into crunch time, and as we countdown the weeks and days, we are amped to be working with our models and can’t wait to watch them bring our PFFS 2017 vision to life.
